What's a Chrysalis?

A caterpillar goes into a Chrysalis and emerges a butterfly. You enter our site and we transform you with amazing costumes.

Chrysalis Costumes

We have our own inventory of new and used costumes. All second hand costumes we receive from resale bags are cleaned and inspected prior to resale.

Hygiene

All the second hand costumes listed by Chrysalis go through a strict quality control procedure and are professionally cleaned using modern, environmentally friendly, wet cleaning and steam cleaning methods. These second hand items may have a loose thread or a few wrinkles, but they ship ready to wear.

3rd Party Sellers

With regard to 3rd party sellers, we cannot provide 100% assurance the seller’s product is as advertised or meets our quality standards. However, we have several layers of user protection, including seller reviews, dispute resolution, and delayed payouts for first time sellers.Additionally, every user on Chrysalis is protected by the Chrysalis guarantee.

Chrysalis Guarantee

 If you are dissatisfied with a product purchased on our marketplace you will be reimbursed in one of two ways:

  • If the product was purchased from Chrysalis, you will receive a refund once the product in question has been returned.
  • If the product was purchased from a 3rd party seller, Chrysalis will reimburse you with store credit, after you go through our dispute resolution process.

Chrysalis Store Credit

Store credit can be applied to the purchase of any product on the Chrysalis marketplace. Store credit cannot be applied to shipping costs.

Requirements

If your selling a costume on our marketplace it MUST be in NEW or LIKE NEW condition, it MUST be clean and ready to wear for the next user. If your costume is not ready to wear, you can always send it to us in a costume cleanout bag. Users who falsely advertise will be poorly rated and will compromise their ability to sell in the future. Repeat offenders will be banned from our marketplace.

Taking Photos

There’s an app for that. The Chrysalis App! We want your best photos. We require at least 3 photos but you can add more.

First Payout

To protect all our users, a new seller’s first payout is released 7 days after delivery if no objections are raised by the buyer. After your first successful sale you become a verified seller and all future payment transfers happen instantly when your box is shipped.

Bulk Sales

Are you a theatre or production company with hundreds of costumes? We will help you sell them on consignment. Contact us here

 

Shipping Methods

We use FedEx and USPS to ship our products.

Processing Time

All orders purchased from Chrysalis are processed within 1 business day. Processing time from 3rd parties varies by seller. Chrysalis is not involved in the shipping of 3rd party transactions and only provides the label, tracking, and the Chrysalis Guarantee.

Shipping and Handling Charges

Shipping and handling charges are calculated based on the shipping method selected, the shipping address, and the total weight and dimensions of your package.

Delivery Estimates

Delivery time = processing time + shipping time

 

How to return something

  1. Reach out to us here and request a return authorization code
  2. Return: Mail us back your items.
  3. Give us a few days: You will receive an email regarding your refund request within 14 business days. If approved, payment will be refunded via store credit or cash.

Important to Know

  1. 3rd party sellers have the option to not accept returns. Make sure you pay attention to the return policy when buying from 3rd party sellers.
  2. Buyers have 10 business days after the purchase has been delivered to file a return
  3. All returned items must be in the exact condition they were received upon delivery in order for them to be eligible for refund.

Refunds

  • Return shipping charges must be paid for by the customer. All original shipping charges are nonrefundable.
  • Items purchased with Chrysalis Store Credits will always be refunded back as store credits.
  • Chrysalis store credits will be refunded back to your account 1-2 business days after we’ve received your return order. Traditional forms of payment (PayPal, credit & debit cards) may require between 3 and 5 business days before the refund process is complete
  • Discounts/Promotions applied to purchases will not be reimbursed

You cannot return your item if

  • It has been worn or altered in any way.
  • You opened a sealed package.
  • It became damaged after you tried it on.
  • It is not in its original packaging.

What if it’s a defect?

If your order arrives damaged or with defects, contact us immediately. All damages or defects must be reported to us within 10 business days from the day you receive your package.

What if I need to exchange something?

To conduct an exchange, place a new order and follow the returns process above.

Returns typically take 14 days or less to process.
